Technology has changed all areas of our lives, especially in recent decades. And this isn’t going to stop any time soon, going forward the technology available to us will transform just about every element of our lives, homes and businesses that we can possibly imagine. While this is true of every type of business, today we’re looking at how its impacting service based industries, and how incredible innovations make life easier for business owners, its staff and clients. Read on to find out more.

Hotels, Shops and Restaurants

Businesses that are customer facing like hotels, shops and restaurants are now able to utilise things like robot vacuum cleaners to keep their spaces clean. In outside spaces, a robot lawn mower can do a similar thing and can keep gardens tidy and aesthetically pleasing. As these machines move around on their own, they don’t need staff to guide them which frees up their time for other tasks. Business owners might need to employ less cleaners and gardeners as a result of this which can of course save money too. These types of devices use smart mapping technology to learn the layout of the space, making sure that they don’t miss spots. This means inside and outside spaces are able to be kept tidy with very little effort, giving guests a better first impression.. Employees also have more time to focus on customer service, whether that’s helping their guests/ shoppers, or serving diners more efficiently.

Banks and Financial Services

Banks and financial services are starting to use AI to make managing money simpler and smarter. You’ve probably noticed on your own banking app that most banks use virtual financial assistants that can help you find the answers to your questions easier without needing to speak to a human. AI can also analyse your financial goals and even suggest tailored strategies to help you with debt, savings and more. They can provide real time insights which help people spot patterns you might otherwise miss (like how much you spend on subscriptions or takeaways each month). AI-powered tools are also making investing more accessible as this is something many people wouldn’t consider looking into due to their lack of knowledge. But AI advisors can recommend personalised investment plans by analysing market trends and individual risk preferences. This used to require the help of a human financial expert, but now it’s available at the tap of a button. For customers, this means quicker, smarter financial decisions, while banks benefit from offering more personalised services without increasing their staff costs so its win win.

Healthcare

Getting medical advice no longer has to mean physically visiting your clinic, doctors office or hospital as with virtual healthcare, people can have video consultations with doctors from your home. This is so useful for people who live in remote areas or who have mobility issues. It also makes routine check ups more convenient, patients dont need to take time off work or arrange transport to get there. For healthcare providers, these virtual consultations can ease the pressure on physical clinics as doctors are able to handle more appointments in less time. Nurses, healthcare workers and receptionists can spend less time on admin. Some platforms are now even use AI to assist with pre screening, identifying symptoms before the consultation, which speeds up diagnosis.

Travel Agents

Booking a holiday or business trip in the traditional way takes time, you have to manually search through listings (and prices/ availability change quickly!) you have to research different locations and elements of the trip and generally spend time going through all of the details. However thanks to AI-powered travel platforms everything is done much faster and more personalised to what you want. These systems can scan through thousands of flights, hotels and activities in seconds, finding the best options based on your preferences and budget. They can even use past booking data to make personalised recommendations. For example if you often choose boutique hotels, the system will prioritise similar listings. For travel companies, these systems boost efficiency by reducing the need for manual searches and price updates.

Customer Support

Many service industries are now using automated chatbots to handle customer questions, and the technology is becoming so much smarter than the clunky and frustrating programs of the past. Bots can now answer complex queries like providing account details or helping customers troubleshoot issues, and by using natural language processing (NLP), they understand context better. This makes the conversation feel more human rather than cold and robotic. For businesses, automated support means they can offer instant and 24/7 assistance without needing staff on standby. As a customer you no longer have to wait for office hours to get help with simple issues, like changing a booking or checking order status.
